John 3:16 What does it really mean?
The gospel message and testimony of Jesus Christ
is a constant truth maintained throughout the whole
bible. Both Old Testament and New Testament declare
the purpose of God for His only begotten Son.
Jesus explains this purpose to Nicodemus in John's gospel.
The way of reconciliation to God is through obtaining a new life.
Obtaining a new life requires being born again.
John 3:4-6. " Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man
be born when he is old? can he enter the
second time into his motherís womb, and
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, Except a man be born of water and
of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the
kingdom of God. That which is born of the
flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit."
These passages would be considered evangelical,
in other words, detailing the way of salvation.
Other information concerning the salvation of our soul
is also a part of God's message.
One other truth is how salvation is secure.
Secure in Christ Jesus.
John 3:16 is not an evangelical verse as everyone
proclaims it to be, but rather teaches the security of
the believer. Christ after stating the need for the new
birth did not say it would be based on the will of man.
That is foolishness. Christ sovereign statement is a
promise of eternal security to the believer. This passage
needs to be properly taught for the sake of the truth.
Disciples may be very confident of their eternal security
in Christ Jesus, for this is his distinct promise to every
real believer and follower.
